This is the perfect getaway family place, we took my father for his birthday to enjoy a time from the usual in Houston. We are looking to go back again. Everyone had a great time and much needed peace and tranquility.

Great place to spend a week. The river was perfect for the kids, good fishing and the wild life was everywhere. We had a hummingbird feeder on the porch with anywhere between 2 and 20 frisky hummers at any time during the whole stay. The cabin was very clean, well stocked and comfortable. Management went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to include firewood, birdseed to attract bluebirds and redbirds to our picnic table and even a butterfly net for our grandson to catch butterflies. We were quite impressed with the whole operation and will be looking forward to going back.

We have been going to the Frio and renting with the Yaklins for decades now….I almost hate to tell you how wonderful they are as I kind of like having them as our own little secret! If you are looking for great family time and a great river experience, then these are the cabins for you! They make you feel like you own a little piece of paradise in the hill country. The cabins are clean, have everything you need, and then some! BEST.CABINS.EVER.

Quiet and seclusion and the crystal-clear Frio River make this ranch a magical place for entertaining and relaxing. Century old oaks provide a shady area to barbecue or enjoy a campfire under the stars. Take a walk on our nature trails where abundant wildlife can be seen or stroll down to the river and watch the fireflies come out at night. Deer, turkey and many other species of wildlife can be seen throughout the day from the patios.
The ancient oak trees. The endless breeze. The spring fed water. The cool, smooth surface of stone. There’s a magnetic quality at Buffalo Creek Ranch that has, for decades, attracted adventurers from all over the state. Guests find the natural vibe at the Ranch House intensely restorative. It could be the cozy setting of the oversized patios or the fresh scent of cedar, hanging in the air. We think it’s because the Ranch House is a natural fit with its environment, and it invites you to take in the beautiful hill country landscape.
Enjoy luxury amenities such as soaker bathtubs and separate showers, Wolf cooktop and double ovens. Three huge back patios looking out over the hills, with campfire ring, lounge chairs, BBQ grill and horseshoes. Frio River Frontage on the ranch is a 25 MINUTE WALK down the hiking trail or a 3 MINUTE DRIVE. Bicycles are recommended as well! Buffalo creek is located very close to the house. Seasonal water is fun for splashing or dry conditions are perfect for rock hunting. The game room, complete with pool table, ping pong table, corn hole and other games, is a great additional place to hang out!
The ranch is located 6 Miles from Leakey, 3 Miles from Garner State Park, 20 miles from Lost Maples State Park. Although the ranch offers complete privacy, the drive to the nearest town of Leakey is only 8 minutes. Here you can find restaurants, shopping, tackle store, a grocery store, a meat market and more.

what to bring
Linens are supplied for an additional cost, excluding the peak season time period. Pillows, blankets, sheets, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, toiletries, lawn chairs and ice. We are unable to offer linens during summer months due to labor shortages in our rural area. Contact our office at 830-232-5996 for more information regarding linens.
